Like normal singing lessons – with a twist!
Have you been told “you can’t sing,” or that “you can’t improve?” Find your own voice in this safe and empowering environment. In these workshops, you will explore practical tools and methods for overcoming mental and vocal obstacles. You will:
- Improve your singing
- Learn to use your voice to express yourself
- Find confidence to speak up on issues that matter to you
- Gain courage to join activities and/or communities
The course is taught by Ioanna Tzanakaki, who was born and raised in Greece, where she worked as a classical singer. She moved to Finland 10 years ago. Now she is a voice coach, as well as a social services, mental health and well-being professional.

Classes will be conducted in English, but it is also possible to get individual guidance in Finnish or Greek.
Bring a bottle of water and comfortable clothes. Preferably, don’t eat anything heavy before class. If you have any serious conditions affecting your voice box, please consult your physician before signing up. You are welcome as you are, even if you’ve never sung a note in your life!
Course timetable
Classes (6 in total) are from 17.00–18.00 every Tuesday from the 24th of October to the 28th of November. The classes will be held in Helsinki, Kansalaisfoorumi training room.

Payment and cancellation policy
Please pay for the course in the web shop immediately upon registering.
- For members of our member organizations the course fee is 35 euros.
- The Finnish National Agency for Education supports the participation of the unemployed, immigrants, and pensioners to our courses with a separate funding. In case you would like to use this benefit, the course fee is 40 euros.
- We will check documents supporting your discounted fee before the training. The discount for unemployed people and pensioners is available only if you have no income whatsoever. If you are uncertain if you have the right to a discount, please contact the email address below before you register for the course.
Cancellation policy: You can cancel your course participation without an extra charge up to 21 days before the course begins. After this, 50 percent of the course fee will be returned. If you do not cancel before the beginning of the course, the course fee will not be returned. In case of sickness, the whole course fee will be returned upon presentation of a doctor’s certificate.
