Are you interested in nature and hiking in Finland? You can now learn the basics of hiking, camping and moving in nature on our online course in English! Join the course, learn a lot of new information, practise new skills, find new friends interested in hiking, and fall in love with Finnish nature.
During the course you will find out about the flora and fauna in Finnish forests, and learn the things you need to know to enjoy Finnish nature, particularly the Finnish “everyman’s rights”. You will also discover the main national parks and hiking trails in Finland.
Are you concerned about hiking and camping safety? We will give you the key details you need to feel secure venturing into nature. Join the course and gain confidence to explore nature on your own!
After the online course you also have a chance to take part in a guided day-long wilderness tour in Southern Finland. The day tour will be organised if there are enough people who are interested to join.
Our instructors are two professional wilderness guides, Kristiina Latvala and Niina Heikkilä.
Kristiina loves long solo hikes in the Finnish North. She is also a keen packrafter and a winter hiker. She has a particular interest in safety issues related to nature and hiking.
Niina simply loves Finnish nature, and wants to inspire everyone to go out and explore our natural surroundings.

Participating instructions and a Teams meeting link will be sent via email a few days before the course to those who have registered and paid.
Payment and cancellation policy
Please pay for the course in the web shop immediately upon registering.
The course is partially funded via the ”opintoseteli” programme of the Finnish National Agency for Education.

Cancellation policy: Cancelling course participation is possible without an extra charge 14 days before the course starts. When cancelling after this, 50 percent of the course fee will be charged. In case of a no-show, the full course fee will be charged. Payment of the cancellation fee is not required if you present a doctor’s certificate for sickness.
